Dear Storm Family,

What a fantastic start of the competition season. Now that you have seen how a track meet runs, hopefully this will help you gage the time of your athletes events. As you can see the meet starts at 8:30 but not all athletes have to be there, unless they are going to run the 4x100 relay (400 meter relay) All athletes must be checked in at 9:00 if they are doing a relay, any late athletes may not be assigned to a relay team or on the team best suited for them. Athletes who are going to compete in the first events of the day should arrive at 8:00 am, (Gremlin Long Jump, Youth Shot Put, Bantam High Jumpers, and all 3000 meter runners). All other athletes are still welcome to pick up tags early. If an athlete misses an event they signed up for, they are free to try another event provided it hasn't already completed and as long as they don't over event (meaning compete in too many events for their age group) Limits explained later in news letter.

We appreciate all the volunteers this past weekend, We had the most Volunteers ever thanks to Jennifer Ventress and the Storm Families.

This Saturday our track meet will be against the 3rd largest club in the conference (STORM being the largest). This meet may run longer due to the large amount of athletes at the meet.

This will be our first away meet and we still have volunteer obligations. This week we will be working 1 long jump pit, and high jump pit, and timing the meet.

Please be sure to sign up online in one of these areas.

Relays
Many parents are asking how relays are determined, here is a brief description on how this is done.

It is very important to the team that if your athlete signs up for a relay that they are at the meet and checked in before 9:00 am so the coaches can complete the teams. If your child is signed up for a relay and does not show up or is late, it will effect every other relay runner, and disappoint those who can not compete.

This is the only event that we are strict on signing up for.  Please don't sign up for the relay if your athlete can not compete in the event.

Criteria for relay team assignment.
1) time in the 100 meter race (at a meet).
2) attending practice
3) able to hand off smoothly
4) coaches discretion.

all of this is considered with coaches put together their teams (A-Team, B-Team, C-Team, etc...).

if you have any questions about this please speak with your age group coach or Coach Elaine

Lost and Found
We have a huge amount of lost and found, we have no place to store it. We will no longer be locking up in our bins, but rather simply stacking it next to them under the stands. Please check Valencia high school under the bleachers next to our bins. All items will be donated to Good Will at the end of the week every week.

Sincerely,
