My high school coach used to always
tell me, "You should know, when you
step on the starting line, that you
did everything within your power to
earn a right to be there that day."
I've seen a lot of great effort over
the past few weeks that will
certainly earn you the right to be
there in 2 weeks when we travel to
Simi Valley. Here's an overview of
practice this week to get you
mentally prepared for a lot of good
work.
Monday-
Heritage Park @ 6pm
Tonight will be an easy distance
night. You want to continue to
stretch your capacity for distance.
This is the foundation of everything
else you'll do this season. Be
prepared to push to the next marker
on the paseo tonight!
Tuesday-
Central Park @ 6pm
Saugus High is unavailable due to
back to school night. We'll be doing
interval training on the cross
country course. Be prepared to run a
good strong pace tonight. We'll
break the course into shorter
intervals and take about a minute
rest in between each one.
Thursday- COC @ 6pm
Back to the hills again. We'll run a
similar workout to the one we ran
last week. The goal tonight is to
work through and RUN each one. Hills
are a quick way to building
endurance strength.
Saturday-
Central Park @ 8am
Today will be a mock meet. We'll run
through each age group, in order,
just like a real meet. This will
make sure that there's no surprises
when we travel to
Simi Valley. It would be
great if all age group parents could
be there to participate as well.
It's practice for everyone!
Be prepared to work hard this week!
I'm proud of all the good work I've
seen so far! See you Monday
night...Until then...
Yours in Running,
Coach Darren
