Wow, we are
already closing
out our second
week of the
season and how
awesome has it
been so far? Is
it everything
you hoped it
would be? I
sure hope so,
running should
be fun and to me
that is the most
important thing.
I want to hit on
a handful
of points this
week so bare
with me:
- Thanks to
all the parents
joining us for
practice. Your
involvement is
critically
important for
safety,
encouragement to
the kids and
also to myself
and all the
coaches.
- It's been
hot so continue
to be drinking
lot's of water
during the day
and bring a
bottle to
practice.
- Hopefully
you are all
starting to feel
more in shape.
This marks a
time where we
will take
another step up
in practice,
both in distance
and intensity.
You guys are all
doing great so
keep up the hard
work. This past
week we mixed
practice up a
little with some
hills and some
intervals.
Hills are
especially
important for
strength while
the intervals
help to get the
speed up in your
legs.
Anticipate both
types of
workouts
increasing in
the near future.
- The kids
triathlon went
off very well
for the first
attempt out
here. We had 12
total kids half
of which were
from our club.
That is great
and they each
did a great
job. Make sure
you congratulate
the latest
additions to the
triathlon
community: Alex,
Jonah, Elijah,
Kaylee, Colton,
Ryan, Abby, Niko,
Aiden, and
Dakota. I may
be forgetting
someone so
please forgive
me in advance
for that. Let
me know and I'll
include you in
the next
letter. Anyway,
these guys
experienced
first hand how
hard and
rewarding racing
a triathlon is.
Great job you
guys!!! I think
we actually had
a puker, great
job Alex,
nothing better
than chunky
breakfast on the
ground at the
end of a tri!!
- Let me
finish with a
bit of
encouragement: I
want you guys to
take charge of
your running
potential. Like
I said at the
first practice,
each of you has
the ability to
improve! Some
have the ability
to be the
fastest in your
age group,
others enjoy
running and are
just happy to be
out here, and
some of you just
want to get in
shape and may
not even enjoy
running that
much. Whatever
your reasons for
being here, I
want you to set
some goals for
yourself. While
you are at
practice give it
your all, the
pain only lasts
while you are
running! Well
maybe sore
muscles last
longer but that
is great. I
want to
encourage each
of you to reach
farther at each
practice.
Challenge
yourself and see
what you can
accomplish by
the end of the
season, you
might surprise
yourself!!!
- We don't
want injuries so
if are having
continual or
sharp pains that
are causing you
to change the
way you are
running please
let me know. I
want each of you
to be running
strong through
the end of the
season!
- If you ever
have questions
for me, please
catch me after
practice or
shoot me an
email. I'd love
to hear from
you.
