Team,
4 down and 3 to go. El
Cariso was a beautiful day
and we had a lot of good
racing out there. How about
Shelbi Schauble, Valerie,
and Sierra for the girls.
All made huge improvements
from last year or Shelbi
coming back from being
sick. And don't forget the
boys with the late addition
of Nicholas Serrano, Joshua
and Kaleb English pushing it
hard, Jacob Lee making a big
jump, and Riley getting up
there in the mix with the
youth boys. I love to see
the fight in you guys so
great job.
REMEMBER, THE SEASON ISN'T
OVER YET! I want to
encourage you with a couple
things: first, listen at
practice and run the
workouts as they are
outlined, and second look at
your place in the conference
from the first race to last
week. If you desire to move
on to Nationals, place is
all that matters. It's
easy, even for me, to
compare times from last
year. And if you see them
slower it can be easy to get
discouraged. Remember one
thing, the race, even on the
same course is never the
same. Last year we had
pretty much perfect weather
and this year was beautiful,
but much hotter and humid.
El Cariso was also the 6th
race, not the 4th. With
that said, please don't get
discouraged. You guys are
all doing great! Tired..
yes I understand. Keep your
heads up and YOU WILL BE
READY for the final 3 races
of the season.
This week for practice we
will bring it down a little
again in mileage. Not
intensity. Remember as you
train, if you start reducing
your intensity, your body
will start to think that is
all you have and you will
slow down. One of the most
difficult ideas for me to
grasp was the fact that
during a taper period I
still need to run with the
same intensity. The part
you change is the volume.
So this week, as I'm not
there to push you, listen to
the coaches, push yourselves
and your legs will start to
feel fresh again soon.
Tonight is going to be a
nice easy jog. Enjoy the
night with your friends.
One more piece I want each
runner to look at. Take 10
minutes and look through the
results to see which Storm
team mate you are running
with each week at races. In
practice work together.
Push each other on the hard
workouts. In two weeks we
have Mt. Sac. This race is
all about position and it is
a good place to push
yourself to take one or two,
or more spots.
Alright, I'll miss you guys
this week, really I will.
Although I've attached a
picture of where I'll be
training in Colorado. Maybe
one of these years we'll
rent a team bus and you can
come with me for the week!
I'll be back for the race
this Saturday. Work hard,
sleep well, DON'T GET
DISCOURAGED, and most of all
have fun!
See you soon,
Coach Jeremy |
