Parents and Athletes:
Week 3 begins...
It's been a great 2 weeks so
far! Last week we got out
on the trails for the first
time at Heritage, and some
of you got to experience
your first interval
workout. Don't forget about
the triathlon on Saturday.
We had 28 kids out there,
most of whom were Storm
athletes, and they all had a
great time. Thanks to those
of you who participated, and
way to try something new!
This week we will continue
building strength as we
still have 4 weeks until the
first race. Unfortunately,
Monday night is back to
school night for some of us
so I will be missing the
practice. That practice
will again be a longer,
slower workout, so come to
practice hydrated and ready
for the hot weather. Any
parents planning to bring a
bike to ride at practice,
maybe bring a backpack so
you can carry some waters if
necessary. Tuesday, we'll
work again on intervals.
Tuesdays will prove to be
the most essential workout
of the week for increasing
your speed so be sure not to
miss it. Thursday is the
last COC race series race so
if you aren't planning on
making it make sure you go
out for a run on your own.
Finally, how could I forget
about the most enjoyable
part of practice, Core,
maybe we'll start to see
some 2-packs out there this
week!
Closing out the week we'll
have our first beach day.
Saturday's practice this
week is going to be at 10:30
at Carpinteria State Beach.
The details are as follows:
we'll meet at the life guard
station at the end of Linden
Ave, near the volleyball
courts. Exit 86, go left to
Carpinteria Ave, go right to
Linden, then left to the end
of the road. Parking: there
is free parking at the end
of Linden or side streets by
the houses, or you can pay
$8 to park in the state
beach parking [Go left on
Palm Ave from Carpinteria
Ave which is before Linden
follow signs to the
campground]. The plan will
be to start practice at
10:30 which gives you time
to sleep in a little. It
takes about an hour to get
there.
By the time practice is
over, it should be prime
beach weather. Bring your
umbrella's, beach balls, and
boogie boards. And food for
your family.
I'm looking forward to more
fun this week.
See you out there,
Coach Jeremy |
