Dear Storm Family,
This will be, I
think, the 8th year
to start a new XC
season and I can
hardly believe how
old all of you are
looking!! To show
up this morning
after being gone all
week, I saw the team
and just can't
believe it, where
we've come. 8 years
ago I stepped in as
head coach and I am
so proud, in a good
way, of this team.
Alan and Elaine and
I have 1 primary
goal, the success of
your athlete. They
have led that charge
and I am fortunate
to be a part and to
work with so many
great kids and
parents. Here's to
another great year
we are going to
have!!
To the new parents I
offer a huge welcome
to our family. You
are in for a treat
in youth sports like
you've never
experienced. I
encourage you to
dive in with us, be
a part of all of the
kids' lives, to
encourage and be a
role model for
them. As for the
returning parents,
it's easy, let's
build on the
greatness we already
have established.
With that said,
let's get going!
There are some
important items to
cover at the end of
this first week:
- Thanks to coach
Elaine for heading
up the week in my
absence. I heard a
lot of coaches and
parents saying it
was smooth, the kids
just stepped right
into the practices
like they never
stopped. Thanks
coaches, parents and
athletes!
- I need all
parents wanting to
run to email me a
couple things: what
practices during the
week you know you
can be at
consistently (not
going to hold you to
it but need an
idea), and what pace
you can run or group
you feel confident
you can train with.
I have parents in
lead roles for the
groups already but
knowing who I have
as potential backups
or to fill some gaps
will be a huge help
to me.
- It's going to
get hot this week,
supposed to hit 100
which really means
103+. Please help
your kids by
reminding them to
drink water
throughout the day.
For most, school
starts this week so
again remind them of
drinking a couple
sports bottles of
water while at
school. Also bring
water or an
electrolyte to
practice, and again
put your name on the
bottle and remind
your athlete to
bring it home.
- I'm feeling like
I'm forgetting
something... oh
well, it'll come to
me this week if it
was important.
Thanks again for a
great first week.
Oh, I just
remembered, this
Tuesday at practice
we will be running a
mile time trial. I
know it's a little
early for that but I
really want to get a
sense of where the
kids are so I can
make sure we have
them running the
right workouts. So
please make sure you
plan on being there
Tuesday night. It
will help them to be
tired so they sleep
good for the first
day of school. For
the elementary kids
anyway.
Alright, that's it
for now. See you
all Monday night at
West Creek Park!!

New athletes, If you

this week. You can
scan and email it to
me at this email

take a picture of it
and text it to me at

Trinity Cross
Country
We would like to
welcome the Trinity
Knights to our
practice. You may
have seen some of
the kids practicing
with us. They are
the Trinity Knights,
a local private
school that we have
partnered with the
past 2 years to help
them start a cross
country program.
This allows their
kids the ability to
break up in groups
with our kids and
give a better
overall training for
all kids. While the
2 programs train
together, they are 2
separate teams.
