Dear Storm Family,
Yesterday many of our
coaches spent their day
learning how to coach
better at a clinic
designed for youth
athletes. I want to
personally thank each of
them for their
commitment to coaching
for Storm. Let's hear it
for the coaches!!
Looks like we might see
some rain towards the

Coaches Corner
The first full week
of practice was
awesome!
Please be sure your
athlete has the
proper shoes or they
will not be allowed
to practice.
Remember that
athletes are to
attend at least 2
practices a week,
but the more they
attend, the stronger
they will be.
We
will begin specialty and
field events this
Saturday. We are
still in need of
block training
coaches.
Remember to hydrate
and eat healthy all
week long.

Meet the Olympian
This Saturday
(March 1st)
during practice
we will have
David Neville
coming out to
meet and inspire
the kids. David
Neville was the
400 meter bronze
medalist and a
gold medalist as
a member for the
4x400 meter
relay team that
set an Olympic
record in the
2008 Summer
Games in Beijing
More About David
In the 2008
Olympic 400m
final, out of
Lane nine, he
physically dove
across the
finish line with
a time of 44.80
seconds, holding
off Bahamian
Chris Brown who
placed fourth in
44.84.
"Sometimes we
have to
sacrifice our
bodies, our
minds, our
spirits,"
Neville said
after the race.
"That's what I
did. I knew I
had to dive." In
the same Olympic
Games, he
captured gold as
a member of the
4x400m relay
team. Neville
ran the third
leg with a split
of 44.16 helping
the relay team
set the Olympic
record
(2:55.39). The
speedster
attended Indiana
University from
2003-2005,
redshirting his
freshman year so
he could be a
member of the IU
marching band as
a snare drummer.
Music is a big
part of
Neville's life
as he has been
playing since
the fourth
grade. He also
plays music at
his church, the
Santa Clarita
Christian
Fellowship.
After returning
to the track, he
found his way
into the IU
records book on
multiple
occasions as he
set records for
the 200m, 400m,
4x400m relay and
the distance
medley relay. In
addition to the
school records,
he captured four
Big Ten
conference
titles. After an
outstanding
career at IU,
Neville decided
to forgo his
senior season so
he could sign a
professional
contract. He
did, however,
complete his
degree in music
education and
would like to
teach music at
the middle
school or high
school level
following his
track career.

Jelly Beans &
Jolly Ranchers
Parents we ask that
you bring 2 bags of
jelly beans or Jolly
Ranchers.
At the end of each
practice we give the
kids a few jelly
beans as a treat.
For the kids with
braces, we give them
a Jolly Rancher. The
kids must be heading
out the gate in
order to get them.
