This weeks Practices
Practices are held
Monday, Wednesday, &
Thursday at Valencia
High School on the
track starting at 6:00
pm
Pick up will be
around 7:45 this
week. We are back to our
normal hours
This will be our final
week of practice for
most of our athletes. On
Thursday we'll have a
special reward for the
kids. It's been a
tradition so please be
sure to attend
Thursday's practice.
Lap-a-thon awards will
also be presented on
Thursday.

This weekend's meets
This weekend is the
final meet for a lot of
the conference kids.
Saturday's meet
is called the Open Final
Meet, all
Gremlin & non qualified
athletes will attend
this meet.
Sunday's meet is
called the League
Championship Meet,
qualified athletes can
only attend this meet.
Athlete's who have
obtained a qualifying
mark in any event can
not attend the open
finial meet, they must
compete in the League
Championship meet on
Sunday (even for
religious reasons).
Both meets are
championship meet and
the 6 top athletes in
each event will be
awarded medals, all
other athletes will
be awarded place
ribbons.
Top 20 List.
The conference fills 1
heat of each event
for Sunday's League
Championship meet based
on the league
top 20 list. If an
event does not have 1
heat worth of qualifiers
the conference will
"invite" the next in
line to fill the open
lanes until the event is
full. We need to know
today if your child
want's to fill that open
spot in League if they
are invited. (This
invitation is extended
to the non-qualified
athletes to attend the
League Championship
meet).
IECs
Individual Event
Championship Meet is
held on May 30th at
Santa Barbara City
College, This meet is
the Valley Youth
Conference's Olympic
championship meet,
athletes who finish in
the top 3 at their
League Meets are
advanced to this meet
for the finial
competition of the 2009
season. That will take 6
of the 9 lanes in an
event, the remaining
open lanes will be
awarded to the next 3
athletes by marks from
their league meets.

Coaches Thank You
Dinner Donations
In Lieu of
gifts for your
coaches we ask
that you donate
to the coaches
thank you
dinner. Michele
will have
a decorated gift
box to collect
your donation.
The thank you
dinner is
planned for
early to mid
June.

Board
Positions/Elections
I've been told that your
2009 board of directors
has opted to return for
the 2010 season. Our
annual meeting will be
held on Thursday May 14
at practice as is our
custom.
If you are
interested in
assisting our club
in the off season
please speak with
Michele Ewing for
Track and Field, or
David Summer for
Cross Country, or
Kevin Sarkissian for
SOAR.
There is talk that we're
starting a youth
triathlon program this
summer, please keep an
eye on our website for
more information about
that sport.

GOODS WILL BE PROVIDED.
Food Assignments:
Everyone needs to help
out by bringing extra
food, rule of thumb,
bring enough for twice
your family. Bring 2
items.
Bantams & Intermediates
: Drinks 2-12 pack or
4-6 pack (1 case) any
type of soda, juice
boxes, water. NO TWO
LITER BOTTLES!! Please
put in an ice chest with
ice.
please make sure there
is enough for everyone
to have at least 2
drinks each.
Gremlin and Midgets:
Side Dishes - Salads,
potato salad, coleslaw,
fruit, baked beans,
chips & dips, veggies,
etc. PLEASE REMEMBER A
SERVING SPOON
Bring at least enough
for your family and
another family.
Youths: Dessert
for 12 - PLEASE precut
or sliced finger
desserts would be great.
I.E. Cookies, brownies,
etc.
***Game suggestions are
also welcome!!!
